Weekly Wrap Up- The Feeling Like Fall Edition

The title of this post is sort of misleading.  Earlier in the week it was actually still sunny and warm.  But, today has been cool and overcast, and tonight we started with a misty rain.  But, it reminds me that fall is just around the corner.

We are actually wrapping up several fall activities at the end of next week.  I'll be glad for a little more free time in the schedule, and I plan to try really hard to keep it free and not just fill it up with something else.

On Monday of this week, we had science club and did some more dissection.  This week was grasshoppers.  These were the nastiest looking things.  Ugggh.  I remembered my camera and had new batteries this time.

On Tuesday, we did school work and then headed out for Ladies Bible Study and Kathryne's drama class.  Both of those will wrap up after next week.

On Wednesday we did school and didn't have to leave the house until time for church.  Woohoo!

Thursday we were home and doing school until 2 when the kids all had dentist appointments.

Today, Friday, we finished up school early and went to lunch with Jason.  I left Charles with him, so he could do a service project at the church this afternoon.  Then the girls and went home and to gymnastics.

Weekly Wrap Up- The Camera Wasn't Working Edition

Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers is taking some blogging time off this week due to loss of a family friend.  I'm going ahead and posting our weekly wrap up because I am actually getting around to one this week.

Monday, we had a mostly normal day of school work and gymnastics.  I am continuing to love our Apologia General science.  We're studying simple machines.  I don't really remember too much about science from my school years- probably because it was one of my least favorite subjects.  So, I am learning and learning along with my children, and I think I probably enjoy it more than they do.  For history we are reading Animal Farm.  We had just broached the topic of socialism and communism in our time period of history, so I took a little detour to read this classic with the intent of discussing the symbolism with the older kids while the younger ones could just enjoy the fairy tale.

Tuesday, we went to play and visit with some dear friends we hadn't seen in a bit.  We all enjoyed ourselves, and the weather turned out beautifully for all of the kids to play outside.  In the afternoon, Kathryne had her drama class.

Wednesday, we had school work and then Kathryne had physical therapy.  Then we all headed to church.  After church, the kids went to Jason's mom to spend the night and the day on Thursday.  I picked them up Thursday afternoon to take Ashlyne to gymnastics.

Friday, we had a great field trip, but the camera didn't work!  We went to a corn maze.  It was over seven acres and 2.5 miles of trails.  It took us 2 and a half hours to make it through.  We all had a great time, but we were soooo tired.  I think I severely underestimated the complexity of the maze.

This coming week should be pretty normal for school, followed by a truly crazy week the first week of November.  After that, I am looking forward to some serious slowing down until after the holidays!

Weekly Wrap Up- The Slow Down and Write One Edition

This week started with Monday (don't they all), and we did some school around the house and then headed to science club where we dissected crayfish.  Uggh.  I'm glad I have friends who are brave enough to attempt this.  My loving daughter pointed out that I was the only mom who put on rubber gloves before I would handle the dead critters.  I also did that last week when we dissected the earthworms and was the only one.  Yes, that's me folks.  Call me sqeamish.

On Tuesday, we did some more school and then headed to Ladies Bible Study.  This is something I've done a few times in previous years but hoped would work better this year since all of my children have outgrown that nap slot.  The ladies meet and study the Bible, fellowship, and such.  While the large group of homeschooled children hangs out and plays and socializes.  I am enjoying the study.  I have still one child (who shall remain nameless) who would prefer I not leave him (hint hint) in a group where he doesn't know anyone well.  But, he's warming up, and I think this week was better than last for him.  After Ladies Bible Study, I took Kathryne to her drama class and sped home to make supper.

On Wednesday, we actually stayed home until 4:00pm.   Hooray!  We had a whole day for school, then to the library (where I paid for another wing to be added on with my fines) and to church.

Thursday, we had a little set back.  We were supposed to do some school and then go play with friends, but Kathryne didn't feel well, so we backed up and punted; stayed home; and took the day off to rest.

On Friday, we had a fairly normal day's school and then gymnastics (which is Monday, Thursday, and Friday, but starts earlier on Friday).

Ah, deep breath now.  The week is done.  Next week is actually looking slightly calmer.  I'm very glad!
